Community Access Pass (CAP)

Free annual passes to Balboa Park's museums for underserved and military families in San Diego County, distributed through nonprofit partners.

What CAP Provides

Free Annual Passes

The CAP program partners with local nonprofits to distribute free annual Balboa Park Explorer passes to economically disadvantaged, at-risk, and traditionally underserved families.

Museum Participation

The 16 participating cultural institutions graciously provide free admission to pass recipients, and the supply of passes is limited each year.

Military Appreciation Pass (MAP)

Established in 2017, MAP provides the same family passes to active duty military families living in San Diego County.

CAP and MAP help fulfill the Cultural Partnership's mission to make the arts, science, and cultural experiences of Balboa Park accessible to all.

Find Your Path

Nonprofit Organizations

Are you a Nonprofit (501c3 organization) interested in partnering with CAP? Thank you for your interest in the Community Access Pass program! We are always open to growing and developing new relationships and partnerships with nonprofits throughout San Diego County. We have a limited supply of free passes to distribute each year. These annual passes are for families that are interested in experiencing everything the Balboa Park cultural institutions have to offer.

The objective of CAP is to provide this opportunity to families and individuals that are economically disadvantaged, at-risk or underserved, that may not otherwise have the resources to visit the participating museums. Our goal is to make your participation in the CAP program as easy as possible. We ask that you designate a contact within your organization who can work with us to facilitate the pass distribution for those you serve. We handle the printing, provide additional materials, and deliver the passes to you for distribution.

Military

If you are an active duty military family living in San Diego County, we invite you to inquire about our free Military Appreciation Pass (MAP) program, providing a limited supply of free annual Balboa Park Explorer passes each year.

Families

Thank you for your interest in the Community Access Pass program. Unfortunately, our program is not structured to be able to distribute passes directly to individuals or families in the community. However, we work closely with many nonprofit organizations throughout San Diego County. Please contact a nonprofit organization in your area, and ask them to connect with us at cap@bpcp.org for more information.
