Our Programs

Our Programs

BPCP brings together 24 member organizations across Balboa Park through a shared set of programs and initiatives. Some are public-facing, like the Balboa Park Explorer pass and community outreach efforts. Others support the people who run the Park day to day, including professional development through the Learning Institute and shared work on sustainability.

Four programs, one shared purpose

Balboa Park Explorer

An annual pass that gives San Diego residents and visitors access to multiple museums and cultural sites across Balboa Park through a single membership.

Community Access Pass

A partnership with local nonprofits that provides free annual Balboa Park Explorer passes to underserved and at-risk families, and, since 2017, to active duty military families through the Military Appreciation Pass. Sixteen participating institutions offer free admission to pass holders each year.

Smith Leadership Symposium

An annual gathering for staff, trustees, volunteers, and artists across Balboa Park's arts, science, and cultural institutions, named in memory of civic leader Robert "Bob" Smith. Each year explores a new theme in cultural leadership, from audience engagement to organizational innovation, helping attendees grow as leaders and strengthen their institutions.
