Our Commitment

Balboa Park Cultural Partnership is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Access is central to our work across the Balboa Park Cultural District, and that includes how people find and use information about it online.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content easier to use for people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have mobility, cognitive, or learning disabilities.

What We Have Done

This website was rebuilt with accessibility as a core goal. Steps we have taken include:

  • Larger, easy-to-read text and colors chosen to meet contrast requirements
  • A clear heading structure so screen reader users can move through each page
  • Text descriptions (alt text) for meaningful images and logos
  • Navigation menus, links, buttons, and forms that work with a keyboard
  • Visible focus indicators so keyboard users can see where they are on the page
  • Decorative icons hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise
  • Form fields with visible labels
  • Layouts that adjust to different screen sizes and allow text to be enlarged without losing content

Known Limitations

We work to keep the whole site accessible, but some content may not yet fully meet our standard:

  • Older documents. Some PDFs and reports published before this website was rebuilt may not be fully accessible. We are reviewing and updating them over time.
  • Content from other organizations. Some pages link to or display content from partners and outside services, such as member organization websites, Balboa Park Explorer, and maps. We do not control the accessibility of those sites.
  • Videos. Some older videos may not have captions or transcripts.

If you need any of this content in another way, please contact us and we will help.

Feedback and Assistance

If you have trouble using any part of this website, or need information in a different format such as large print or a plain text version, please let us know. When you contact us, it helps to include the page address and a short description of the problem.

How We Review This Website

This website is designed to work with current versions of major web browsers and with common assistive technologies, including screen readers and screen magnifiers.

We check accessibility using automated testing tools, keyboard-only testing, and manual review. We continue to review the site as new content is added.
